Black Dog Ride raises $500,000 for mental health support services!

With the funds raised so far as part of the 2012 Ride to the Red Centre, Black Dog Ride has now raised over $500,000 for mental health support services since Steve's first ride around Australia in 2009!

Black Dog Ride began as one man's mission to raise awareness of depression. In 3 short years it has evolved into a national movement of riders raising awareness of depression and suicide prevention in addition to raising vital funds for mental health support services. During this time, Black Dog Ride has remained a grassroots independent group engaging and empowering thousands of Australians from every corner of the nation, particularly in the regions hardest hit by suicide and mental illness.

Raising awareness of depression works hand in hand with raising the urgently needed funds for support services to assist people living with a mental illness and to combat the rising epidemic of mental illness in Australia. Black Dog Ride is thrilled to have raised $500,000 to assist the Suicide Call Back Service (Crisis Support Services), Lamp Inc, the Black Dog Institute and Lifeline, enabling them to continue their vital work in our communities.

It is a testament to how deeply Australians feel about funding for mental health services as every dollar raised has been generated by ordinary Aussies with extraordinary generosity. Without their dedication and passion to make a difference in our society, this truly historic and remarkable milestone could not have been achieved.

Steve Andrews and the Black Dog Ride team sincerely thanks every single Black Dog Rider for their support in raising $500,000. THANKYOU!
